The
Sports Facilities Booking & Information System is a new system
developed by the CSC, which allows end users to book facilities
in the Sports Centre such as badminton courts, table tennis and
gymnastics.
The system
was first made available to the booking counter of the Sports
Centre in May 1999 and the Web-based version was launched in December
1999 for staff only. It was then extended to students in February
2000. In fact, City University is the first institution in Hong
Kong to implement such a Web-based booking system.
Being developed
under the Web, the system is easily accessible by all staff and
students either on-campus or through remote access using the dial-up
facility. To invoke the system, simply choose "Sports Facilities
Booking & Information System" under the "Admin.
& Communication Menu" on the CityU Intranet home page
and a login screen will appear as shown below.
This Web-based
system provides essential functions to allow end users to make
advance booking, perform enquiry, cancel bookings and alter bookings
due to adverse conditions. Making a new booking is simply a mouse
click on the desired time slot provided that the slot has not
already been booked. The availability of time slots is depicted
by a variety of colours as shown below.
To further
enhance the system, it has been planned that it will soon be able
to interface with the store-value function of the CityU staff
and student ID cards for the deduction of booking fees. Do watch
out for our future announcement when this feature becomes available.
