Lingfei Wu Accepts a Faculty Position at University of Pittsburgh

Dr. Lingfei Wu, a graduate of Department of Media & Communication in 2013, has received a job offer as a tenure-track faculty member in School of Computing and Information at University of Pittsburgh, the United States, in the coming school year.
Lingfei came to our PhD program with a BA from Chinese University of Political Science and Law and an MA from Peking University. In the PhD program, he concentrated on computational social science research at the Web Mining Lab supervised by Prof Jonathan Zhu. After graduation from CityU, he has worked as a research scientist at Baidu, Arizona State University, and University of Chicago, respectively. He has published more than a dozen articles in top-tier interdisciplinary journals such as Nature
, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences
, Scientific Reports
, Physica A
, and Physical Review E
. His work has been supported by Tencent Research Institute, National Science Foundation, and Kaifeng Foundation.
School of Computing and Information at University of Pittsburgh is ranked 10th in the US News & World Report list of Best Library and Information Studies Programs. Lingfei will start as an Assistant Professor in the fall semester of 2019.
Lingfei is the third PhD graduate of our program to work as a faculty member at leading universities in the U.S. Prior to him, Dr. Tai-Quan “Winson” Peng
has been a tenured Associate Professor in Department of Communication at Michigan State University and Dr. Dani Madrid-Morales
a tenure-track Assistant Professor in School of Communication at University of Houston, Texas.
