Distinguished Scholar Lecture Series: Telecommunication Economics, Policy & Regulation - How can Innovation Theory Renew?

On 24 October 2022, Professor Erik Bohlin, from the Department of Technology Management & Economics at Chalmers University of Technology, offered a distinguished scholar lecture titled "Telecommunication Economics, Policy & Regulation - How can Innovation Theory Renew?". In this seminar, Professor Erik Bohlin introduced the development of telecommunications policy research, an active research field for more than 50 years, starting with economics but increasingly Interdisciplinary. He addressed how innovation economics can further renew the discourse, addressing market design for 5G and platform regulation. He also provided an overview of the main journals in the field, Telecommunications Policy. 

Prof. Bohlin has published in several areas relating to the information society - policy, strategy, and management.  He is the Editor-in-Chief of  Telecommunications Policy (an SSCI-Q1 journal) and a Member of the Swedish Royal Academy of Engineering. Prof. Bohlin obtained his graduate degree in Business Administration and Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics (1987) and his Ph.D. at Chalmers University of Technology (1995). The zoom session was attended by around 40 members, with over 400 participants joining the live-streaming of the seminar via multiple platforms.
