Department of Media and Communication Center for Communication Research

Inaugural BRAIN Research Cluster Online Symposium

25 May 2022 (Wed)

On 18-19 May 2022, the Department of Media and Communication (COM), together with the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) at CityU, co-hosted the inaugural BRAIN research cluster online symposium. The BRAIN research cluster, convened by Prof. Fiona Nah, conducts studies to understand the functioning of the human brain and its impact on affective, behavioral, and cognitive outcomes as well as how individuals learn, communicate, feel, and think using neuroscience and advanced information technologies.

The symposium was organized by eight members of the BRAIN research cluster in CLASS, of which three of them are faculty in COM. The symposium featured 19 moderators and speakers. The topics covered include neural understanding of language, neural mechanisms of mindfulness, neural mechanisms of psychological flow, visual attention across the human lifespan, and functional brain networks. The symposium was attended by 180 participants.

The program for the two-day symposium is presented below along with a snapshot of the Day 2 interactive roundtable session where members of the BRAIN research cluster interacted with the participants to explore potential research collaborations.
