COM alumni reunited online

The CityU Homecoming Day 2022 was held online on 13 March 2022 (Sunday). The Department of Media and Communication (COM) hosted a one-hour COM Alumni Reunion event through Zoom. Over 30 alumni and faculty members attended the event.

The Department invited Mr. Kenny Yung, a 2019 BA graduate, to share about the up and downs working in the Hong Kong media industry. Kenny was a former journalist and news anchor of the Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB). He was sent to the forefront to report the news in the 2019 social unrest right after graduation. After getting injured during the process, he had a chance to switch to a news anchoring position in TVB and continued his journey in the media industry. 

2011 MA graduate Mr. Haosen Sun updated the preparation progress of COM’s first Alumni Association (AA). Haosen was with the department’s technical office several years ago and is currently a manager in the China Resources Groups. He is now the acting convener of the AA and leading a group of core members to draft the constitution of the AA. The AA is expected to formally establish in the summer. 

Prof. Yu-li Liu, Head of the Department, gave the welcome speech. Prof. Jonathan Zhu, Dr. Chris Shen, Dr. Crystal Jiang, and Mr. Sunny Sun also addressed to the alumni. Dr. Xiaofan Liu hosted the session.

Mr. Haosen Sun, the acting convener of the COM Alumni Association, introduced the preparation progress and the directions of the Association.
