The Third Roundtable Forum on Computational Communication Research

13 Dec 2021 (Mon)

On December 13, 2021, the Computational Communication Research Cluster held the third event in its roundtable forum series. The roundtable comprises two parts: the first part is on eye-tracking research and the second part is on electroencephalogram (EEG) research. The panelists for part 1 on eye-tracking research are Professor Chun Yu KIT from the Linguistics and Translation department, Professor Antoni CHAN from the Computer Science department, Dr. Dannii YEUNG from the Social and Behavioural Sciences department, and Dr. Xiaowei LUO from the Architecture and Civil Engineering department. The panelists for part 2 on EEG research are Dr. Hsu Wen HUANG from the Linguistics and Translation department, Dr. Xiaowei LUO from the Architecture and Civil Engineering department, and Dr. Chun Yu TSE from the Social and Behavioural Sciences department. This interdisciplinary group of panelists presented inspiring and insightful research on how eye-tracking and EEG technologies can be and have been used to advance research in their respective disciplines. This roundtable is an excellent showcase of interdisciplinary cross-cutting research in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) where discoveries in Behavioural, Social, Communication, and Brain Sciences are made possible by eye-tracking and EEG technologies using computational methods in engineering and data science. Professor Fiona Fui-Hoon NAH from the Media and Communication department moderated the roundtable. The event was held in a mixed mode of in-person and online, with more than 70 participants online.
