2012 Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication (BAMDCM) BAMDCM Graduate

My time in COM was delightful: I particularly enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere, the inspiring classes, and the interaction with loving, caring professors. With the foundation of very close teacher-student relationships, I have learnt a lot from my mentors, whose experiences and connections in the field help students like me prepare well for their future career.

COM provides many internship opportunities for students. I started with an intention to work in public relations, but in the end settled with a placement in news. To my surprise, this COM internship changed my perspective. I had a glimpse of “what news is” and I was inspired to work in the news industry.

After graduation, I worked in a local newspaper, reporting in-depth news stories. And I was lucky enough to receive Merit Award (Investigative Text Reporting) of the 17th Consumer Rights Reporting Awards. Working in PR field now, I still cherish my days in the news industry and my days in COM.

Though the media industry faces many challenges today, I am confident that COM will continue to inspire, cultivate, and nourish young talents to become tomorrow’s leaders for the field. Happy 10th anniversary, COM!
