CityUHK’s Public Administration subject, led by the Department of Public and International Affairs (PIA), has achieved remarkable results in the latest 2024 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) by ShanghaiRanking. Among 200 universities, our Public Administration subject ranked 8th in the world, a significant leap of 15 spots from last year, and ranked 1st in Hong Kong and Asia.
The research excellence and thought leadership of PIA are notably reflected in this ranking. The department endeavors to nurture next-generation leaders, equips them to work across the public, non-profit, and private sectors at local, national, and global levels, and strives to produce knowledge that fosters ethical, prosperous, and well-functioning organisations and societies.
The Department of Media and Communication (COM) also maintained its Top 75 position in communication and media studies, ranking 2nd in Hong Kong. This reflects our continuous commitment to research excellence and high-quality education in this area.
The GRAS rankings utilise a range of objective academic indicators and third-party data to measure the performance of world universities in respective subjects, covering five major evaluation categories: World-Class Faculty, World-Class Output, High-Quality Research, Research Impact, and International Collaboration. The ranking results reflect the continuous progress of the CLASS faculty in striving for research excellence, social impact, and global leadership in various subjects.
