CLASS Faculty Receives University-wide Outstanding Research Award

The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences is pleased to announce that Dr KIM Ki Joon, Associate Professor of the Department of Media and Communication, has been selected as one of the recipients of CityU’s Outstanding Research Award for Junior Faculty 2021.

Kim’s research interests include human-technology interaction, AI ethics and theory, psychology of new media, computer-mediated communication, information and communications technology adoption and use and social robotics. 

He leads the interdisciplinary research on the sociopsychological antecedents and consequences of human-technology interaction and technology-mediated communication. He is also the Associate Editor of Behaviour & Information Technology, a highly regarded journal for the study of the social, behavioural, and psychological impact of human interactions with information and communications technology. 

According to the standardised citation metrics developed by a Stanford research team based on the Scopus database, he is one of the world’s most cited researchers. In addition, his works have been widely cited in major international news outlets.

CityU gives out the Outstanding Research Award for Junior Faculty annually. The award aims to recognise and reward research excellence at the University, emphasise the University’s commitment to creating an environment conducive to high-quality research at an internationally competitive level, and enhance its performance in the delivery of its research agenda. The awardees are conferred after a rigorous selection exercise by the Selection Panel comprising an external member and senior researchers of the University from a mix of disciplines.
