Understand the Options before Making the Best Choice

The University’s Admissions Office organised its first JUPAS Consultation Day on 4 May 2019. CLASS arranged an array of activities on this occasion for students to get to know more about their options under JUPAS (Joint University Programmes Admissions System), prior to making a decision that may influence their future.

For cohort 2019-2020, the seven departments of CLASS offered a total of 11 undergraduate programmes. Those who would like to know more about the curriculum, strengths, admission requirements, exchange opportunities and career prospects of various programmes should have attended the information seminars hosted by representatives from different departments. They might also walk around the booths outside the lecture theatre, where faculty members and student representatives were there to share their first-person experience and insider tips.

The line-up of activities also included a number of expert talks. Prospective students can gain a deeper understanding of a particular field of interest, as well as its development and outlook. In the one organised by the Department of Public Policy, for instance, Political Assistant to the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs of HKSAR Government and former TV news anchor Mr Kenneth NG King-tsun was invited to discuss the meaning of public policy.

Besides teaching excellence, CLASS students always benefited from the best-equipped laboratories and studios which facilitate learning and research. During the facility tours offered by the Department of Linguistics and Translation and the Department of Communication and Media, prospective students were led to visit these venues which were not normally open to the public.

After obtaining information that day, students who are interested in CLASS programmes can modify their choices by 22 May 2019, or at an allotted time-slot during the period 11 July to 13 July 2019 after the release of HKDSE Examination results.
