傳統儒教婚姻禮儀,男子欲娶女子過門,會將一對活鴛鴦贈送其家,取其天性忠貞不渝,有和睦、專一、兒孫滿堂之美意。

In the traditional Confucian wedding ceremony, a man who wished to marry would purchase a pair of live mandarin ducks to give as a gift to the family of the prospective bride. Mandarin ducks were chosen because they mate for life and represent peace, fidelity, and plentiful offspring.
