University Announcement: Teaching and Learning Arrangements for Semester B 2020/21

In view of recently announced special work arrangements by the Government as well as the suspension of face-to-face classes for schools, the University has decided to defer the implementation of the teaching and learning arrangements for Semester B 2020/21 released on November 25, 2020.

Consequently, flexible arrangements will be adopted for the start of Semester B 2020/21 until further notice:

  1. Teaching will be delivered primarily in a real-time interactive online format through Zoom via Canvas, the same platform we have been using since February 7, 2020. Teaching staff are expected to perform teaching duties at the scheduled time on campus to ensure the most effective teaching and learning experience.

  2. Certain courses (such as courses with lab and practicum sessions) may be delivered in a mixed mode format, i.e. with both online and face-to-face sessions. Arrangements will be based on pedagogical and other practical considerations, as determined by academic units.

  3. Academic staff should record their lectures and upload recordings so that students who are unable to be in Hong Kong can pursue their studies wherever they are.

The University will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and may make further adjustments based on the development of the pandemic after the commencement of the new semester.

Please be reminded that the University strictly follows Government infection control measures. Colleagues and students who come to the campus must wear masks and adhere to University safety and health guidelines. Non-adherence may result in disciplinary action.

This continues to be a time of high uncertainty for all of us, with rapidly changing conditions. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this challenging period. Please stay safe and healthy.
