PhD Research Thesis Topic

  • State Socialization into International Norms: The Case of China’s IP Transition
  • In recent years, China has embarked on an aggressive strategy to promote innovation and develop a knowledge economy. Despite being labelled as a "land of piracy", more steps have been taken by the Chinese government in an attempt to institutionalize intellectual property (IP) as well as to harmonize domestic IP laws with international standards.
  • With respect to China's IP transition, my research will examine if the process of international socialization has taken place in China. As China's state-owned corporations go global, the project will also address the influences these "national champions" have on the government's strategies and policies.
