The National Natural Science Fund, which is managed by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC, 国家自然科学基金委员会), aims at promoting the basic and applied research and financing the research projects in China.
With the establishment of the CityU Shenzhen Research Institute (CityUSRI), CityU faculty members started to get the National Natural Science Fund through the CityUSRI in 2009. In 2011, CityU achieved outstanding results in bidding the Fund with 13 projects awarded more than RMB 5.8 million (equivalent to about HK$7 million).
The internal deadline for the 2012 Fund application is 29 February 2012.
