The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes are offered in the all academic units covering a wide range of strategic areas and suits individuals' research interests.

Students with outstanding academic achievements and good research potentials are eligible to compete for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS), established by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC) in 2009, which aims at attracting the best and brightest students in the world to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong's institutions. Each Fellowship recipient will receive a financial award in the amount of USD105,320 for the 3-year PhD study.

CityU graduates have been ranked among the top 150 for two consecutive years in terms of their employability, according to the Global Employability University Survey and Ranking. A biotechnology company founded by 2 alumni of CityU, has been awarded the Grand Prix at the 43rd Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, which considered the world’s oldest and largest invention show and was organised annually by the Swiss government and the World Intellectual Property Organisation.
