Course Aims

Industrial systems and enterprises of all types involve processes that convert resources to produce products and/or to provide services. This course aims to give students qualitative knowledge and techniques to identify, elucidate, analyze, and re-design processes in a given industrial system/enterprise. We will introduce and use knowledge engineering techniques to identify processes and elucidate/model the workflows of these processes. Qualitative analysis and redesign techniques will be used to re-design sub-optimal processes. The students will have the opportunity to practice using these techniques through a project of their choice.
