Course Aims

The aims of this course are to equip students with:

  • basic knowledge of the structure and properties of engineering materials, both metallic and non-metallic type, used in engineering applications;
  • ability to identify the microstructure-property (especially mechanical properties) relationships for various important engineering materials, and to select appropriate materials for mechanical components/products.
