Course Aims

  1. To encourage students to discover the meaning of the word ‘law’ and the sources of law for the legal system in Hong Kong.
  2. To familiarise students with the sources, classification and operation of Hong Kong law and other features of the legal system in Hong Kong.
  3. To introduce students to the legal and constitutional framework in which law is practised and administered in Hong Kong
  4. To introduce students to the concept of alternative dispute resolution
  5. To encourage students to think critically about Hong Kong law and institutions and to communicate effectively their views and their analysis both orally and in writing

Continuous Assessment: 50%
Examination: 50%
Examination Duration: 2 hours
Note: Continuous assessment includes Coursework (30%) and Participation in Tutorials (20%)
