Course Aims

This is an introduction to the main political, economic and social developments that have taken place in India since the turn of the 20th century, with a principal focus on the contemporary period. Current affairs issues such as: education, popular culture, caste reservation system, environment and energy, and international relations (with China, Pakistan, and the USA) – will also be extensively covered. This course is designed to foster a broad understanding of contemporary India, its domestic and international affairs.
