Aims of Major

This Major aims to train students to become sociologically oriented professionals equipped with sound knowledge on related theory and practice and social research methods to solve problems and manage services in personal, organizational, community, societal, national, and international contexts. It addresses professional challenges that are emerging in these fields, examines social conditions to which the services respond, and assists the aspirant professionals to advance existing practices.


Intended Learning Outcomes of Major (MILOs)

  1. Identify and comply with professional standards and values of Applied Sociology;
  2. Describe concepts and theories in sociology and sociological practice;
  3. Conduct qualitative and quantitative social research and communicate its results to the public;
  4. Analyse the impacts of social, technological, and environmental changes on individuals and society;
  5. Use sociological knowledge generated to improve existing practice; and
  6. Devise creative and innovative solutions to problems identified in the sociological inquiry process.
