Course Aims

This course examines the social processes of globalisation and how these processes have affected local, regional and global environmental conditions. It brings students’ attention to the international debates and negotiations that have shaped environmental laws, practices and activism in different countries. Students will examine and assess environment-related polices and innovations of governments, NGOs and business firms through case studies and web-based discussions. The course will deepen students’ understanding of the complex international processes that disseminate environmental knowledge and help them discover possible models of enhancing environmental protection through web-based discussion and policy-relevant presentations.
