Course Aims

Engineers are now more involved in organization decision making of an economic nature. Whether working for a small or large company, sooner or later, an engineer will advance to a responsible position and be required to deal with economic matters.  Engineering economics analysis or engineering economy is the study of the economics of engineering systems. This course is to provide students with a basic understanding of the principles and techniques in engineering economic analysis that are needed in the decision making process. While emphasis is on the analytical consideration of money and its impact on decision making, the course also considers other factors such as social and environmental responsibilities in the economic analysis and decision process. At the end of the course students will be equipped with basic analytical skills for solving problems of an economic nature.
