TSG - Teaching Start-Up Grant
Teaching Start-Up GrantThe Teaching Start-Up Grant (TSG) has been thoughtfully curated to support new faculties to develop and implement their teaching ideas as they embark on their academic journey with CityU.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be new full-time faculties or teaching staff who joined CityU on or after 1 January 2022.
- Applicants must not have received any TDG or TSG in the previous calls for proposals.
Funding and Duration
- The funding ceiling is HK$120,000 per project.
- Maximum project duration is 18 months.
Evaluation
- All TDG and TSG proposals will be subjected to a rigorous evaluation involving both internal and external reviewers.
- The funding decision for the TDG and TSG will be made independently.
Notes to the TSG applicants
- Applicants are allowed to submit either a TDG or a TSG proposal, but not both, during each Call for Proposals.

- A briefing session is scheduled on 5 February 2024 (Monday) from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Room B5-117, Yeung Kin Man Academic Building) to answer questions about the Grants application.

Calls for proposals
All applications MUST be submitted to Talent and Education Development Office (TED) (ted@cityu.edu.hk). The Principal Investigators (PIs) should obtain approval for the proposal from relevant unit heads before submission. PIs with on-going TDG projects need not re-apply. Successful applicants would be offered a maximum of two TDG grants in four years.
