Joint University Mental-wellness Project (JUMP)

Community Project (2018-19)

Community Project is one of the key inter-institutional activities of Joint University Mental-wellness Project (JUMP) in 2018-19, which serves as a platform for students to apply the theories of Positive Psychology into a project aiming to promote mental-wellness in their fellow schoolmates, or professionals of the respective professions, e.g. engineers, nurses, teachers, or people in the community. Positive Psychology comprises the cultivation of character strengths, positive emotions, engagement, relationship, accomplishment, and meaning of life, aiming to promote wellbeing of people. Students need to design a project/ activities with the use of Positive Psychology theories and integrate them with their ideas generated from their past experiences, expertise, talents and interests.  They can actualize their own activity plans in the university, their own profession or the community.

Form of participation:

  1. as individuals
  2. in team (2 – 10 students)

Project Outputs:

We treasure project outputs with diversity. Ideas are proposed by student freely and will be implemented after consultation and adjustments. Project outputs are not limited to services such as providing services to the general public or non-government organizations. Non-service outputs such as creation of promotion materials or platforms are welcomed. The aim is to promote the application of positive psychology and enhance the well-being of undergraduate students and the general public. We welcome suggestions and further discussion.

Examples:

1.         Services

-           design and lead experiential activities for primary school students, so as to enhance their understanding in positive psychology and mental wellness

-           design booth games for the general public to enhance their understanding in positive psychology and mental wellness

-           design activities to enhance wellbeing of their own professions, e.g. teachers, engineers, lawyers, nurses.

2.         Non-services
