Welcome to Labour Studies Network
Labour studies Network (LSN) is established to promote scholarship on labour studies, sociology of work, social welfare and social protection, facilitate exchange among academics and practitioners, as well as encourage community engagement and knowledge transfer in the field of labour studies and labour movement. With a specific focus on Hong Kong and the mainland China, we collaborate with global universities and institutions.
LSN's activities include conferences and workshops on labour, globalization, inequality, social welfare and social movement. It also circulates news and articles on these topics among its members and supporters. In cooperation with Palgrave macmillan (New York), it has recently launched a book series on Asian Labour and Welfare policies.
LSN's core members include Dr. Chris Chan, Dr. Ho Wing Chung, Dr. Raymond Chan, Dr. Eileen Tsang and a number of researchers and PhD students from our department. It also works closely with colleagues from other departments at CityU, such as Dr. Bill Taylor and Dr. Vincent Chen from the Department of Public Policies, and Dr. Jonathan London from the Department of Asian and International Studies. In addition, LSN includes labour scholars and researchers from universities in Hong Kong, mainland China and other countries. Non-CityU members are affiliated to the network as 'fellows'.
