The flame for the Beijing Olympic Games was lit on 24 March 2008. After about one monthˇ¦s travelling, the Olympic torch finally arrived in Hong Kong on 1 May and was relayed on 2 May.

On 2 May, more than 800 mainland students from 10 universities went to one of the stations of the torch relay - Tsim Sha Tsui - to cheer for Hong Kong, for China and for the Olympics. The CityU students, wearing their tailor-made T-shirts, gathered at the Student Residence early at 8:00am.

The students had already lined up at the roadside in TST at 9:00am and kept singing the national anthem and waving national flags, regardless of the rain, while earnestly waiting for the arrival of the torch. At about 10:30am, the torch appeared in the peopleˇ¦s field of vision. At that moment the citizens and students broke into deafening cheers. The scene suddenly changed into a scarlet sea filled with numerous national flags.

During the period of the torch relay, news, advertisements, banners and many other things about the Olympics can be found everywhere. SRO and Homey Kitchen arranged a TV live broadcast at the Homey Kitchen for the torch relay. At the SR, you can easily find posters about the Olympics. A banner has also been hung at the main entrance of the SRO. Our SR will also host more than 150 volunteers and event organisers of the equestrian events for the Olympic Games. Everything without exception shows our support for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Letˇ¦s give our best wishes to Beijing, to Hong Kong, to China and to the Olympics! We all look forward to seeing the opening ceremony and games of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games!

Cheers for the Flame, Join the Games
