The book “On Becoming a Leader” by Warren Bennis was originally published in 1989. Over the years it has been credited with being one of the best books on the topic of leadership. As said in the book, “The world calls for leadership, and you can never emphasize enough the importance of leadership.”
As a potential leader of future society, how can your 3-year university life help your leadership development? You can learn from books, student society activities and excellent role models around you. Here we will introduce an outstanding student leader in our Student Residence.
Wilson Wong, a Residence Tutor in Lee Shau Kee Hall (Hall 6), has just received a “Top Outstanding CityU Student Leader Award” in March. This new award is donated by Mr. Andrew Fan, who is an official member of the first Standing Committee of the CityU Convocation and was also Chairman of the 1st and 2nd term of the SU Council of City Polytechnic of Hong Kong. An important criterion for eligibility for the award is 20 peer supporters’ signatures to support the candidate’s application.
As the past President of the Residents’ Association of LSK Hall, Wilson has made a great deal of contributions to enriching our residence life. Here is some sharing from him:
“投放得愈大,得著愈多。臨別宿舍,我以『過來人』的身份向宿生呼籲﹕若要享受真正的宿舍生活,不妨投放更多於宿舍活動。宿舍已經給予我們各式各樣的機會,宿生只要本著接受新挑戰、認識新事物的心態去參與宿舍活動,必定可以獲得許多『無價寶』。”
There are many excellent student leaders like Wilson among our residents.
If you find one, try your best to learn from him or her!
