The Spring Festival is the most important traditional festival in China, during which people working in different cities go back to their hometown to celebrate the New Year with their families and relations. But this year, when people were planning their reunion as usual, devastating snowstorms impacted south China, taking away at least 60 lives, damaging a million houses, cutting off supplies of electricity and food, and paralyzing major transport systems.
Thanks to the great contribution of our residents and the joint efforts of all RAs, we collected a sum of $10,099.40 in one week to support the relief and reconstruction work to help people affected by the snowstorms. The largest donation came from Hall 8 ($2262.30), followed by JC Humanity Hall (Hall 1), $2216.60. The whole sum was handed over to the HK Red Cross Relief Fund- China Snowstorm, without deducting any costs.
