Congratulations!  You have survived another semester!  Final exams are almost over and the sweet release of summer is nearly upon us.  If you are still thinking about how to spend your free time this summer, this issue of ResLink has you covered with a multitude of good ideas.

A popular summertime choice has long been participating in sporting events.  If you are looking for something new to try this summer, check out Ron’s tips on how to make rugby a summer sport for all, regardless of athletic ability.  Even better, form a team that is comprised of friends from multiple cultures – you just might see some of your common stereotypes washed away before your eyes!

Another great option is to spend your summer volunteering.  As Summer Li and Chun-yip Leung have learned, volunteering is not only about giving of ourselves – there is a lot to be gained in return as well. Both of those sound like pretty great ways to fill my free time this summer!

Here at the Student Residence, contractors will be busy over the summer refurbishing key facilities in Halls 4, 5 and 6.  Amenities such as air conditioners, mattresses and common areas will all receive a facelift just in time to welcome everyone back in August.

Of course, for some of us, the end of this semester marks the end of our time as students and the beginning of our journey further into the depths of adulthood.  This transition carries different meanings for everyone, but one thing is for sure: our time here at the Student Residence has shaped us in some ways into the people we are.  These different yet linked experiences were beautifully reflected in the SIX WORDS memoir held to commemorate the Student Residence’s 10th Anniversary.  Check them out and see how many describe your experience!

Once again, congratulations on the completion of another successful school year.  Have a happy and safe summer holiday.  If you are leaving the Student Residence to embark on your next adventure: good luck!  If you will be joining us again in the fall: we’ll see you soon!
