First the semester ended and then the year 2009 ended, almost three weeks back. About 500 exchange and local students left the Student Residence; some left temporarily while some left permanently. Amidst all of these endings I would like to highlight something that many forget- a beginning! What appears to be the end may really be a new beginning. The new semester has already begun and there are many new faces on the campus as well as in the Student Residence. It is a time to welcome all the incoming exchange students and the returning local students. The question that arises now is: how do we make a new beginning?

As the famous Chinese philosopher Laozi stated, “A journey of a thousand leagues begins with a single step.” It is a time when we have to ensure that we follow all the resolutions and promises we have made to ourselves. While some of you might be ecstatic about your grades, there might also be some who haven’t performed up to their ability and would like to soar higher. Welcome the New Year with a whiff of positivity and start afresh. All glory comes from daring to begin. Even though it is the second half of the academic year, we can still turn a new leaf and make a new beginning. We must forget about the past and move on by looking at the positive aspects of life rather than living in the woes or glories of the past. It stimulates us and gives us the impetus to work harder. Wouldn’t you like to be not only physically fit but also mentally healthy?

We wish to all our readers that the best of your past be the worst of your future! Always remember that nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but everyone can start today and make a new ending. Remember to keep fit and read our ResLink’s column- “Wellness & Sustainability”!
