Organised by the World Wild Fund charity, Earth Hour 2009 is a major global campaign that aims to draw mass attention to the increasing menace of global warming. All participants across the world, including cities and institutions, will switch their lights off for an hour on 28 March 2009 (Sat) at 8:30pm to show their support for tackling climate change.

Our University, which takes a demonstrative role for all students and the community, has signed the pledge to support the campaign. Some of the lights on the campus will be off for an hour. Lights above the building facade, Multi-function Hall A and Multi-function Hall C in the student residence will be switched off during the campaign as well.

As members of the planet, residents have the responsibility to protect it from being destroyed. As a student resident, individual participation in the campaign is simple: just spread news of the event to your hall-mates and switch off your room or bathroom lights during the campaign.

Our mother Earth has switched to a critical climate change, and a simple light switch can save her by reducing carbon emissions. All the small actions by you can accumulate into one huge deed. Our voice has to be heard - let us call for action.
Lights Out! - We Have Cast Our Vote to Save the Earth
