It would not be uncommon for all you guys out there to hear someone or other talk about ‘the movie that won 8 Oscars!’ I am sure that many of you have asked each other if they have seen that “8-Oscar-movie”. Yeah, that movie about the slum dweller Jamal who was a SlumDog that became a Millionaire.

This is a must-see movie for everyone because it gives us a glimpse of the ‘real’ poverty in India’s commercial capital Mumbai (fondly known as The City of Dreams) and illustrates that if you have the capacity to dream big, nothing can stop you. All of us have a little of Jamal inside us. What is needed is to discover the feeling of being a Millionaire. It may not necessarily be a millionaire in terms of dollars. Jamal was overwhelmed not because he won a million bucks but because he got Latika, someone whom his heart wanted!

The poverty and hardship in Jamal’s life should make us grateful for all the comfort and peace in our lives. One can see small, beautiful and cute kids rummaging through the garbage mounds, getting drenched in the pouring rain and enjoying their lives to the fullest! When was the last time you did that? When was the last time you jumped around like a kid in joy? Or laughed till you cried? Or were thankful for the beautiful life you have? Was it really a long time back? If yes, then we should take out a leaf out of their books and try to enjoy our lives to the fullest. After all, life is just like an ice-cream, enjoy it before it melts!

Any place can become the City of Dreams if you succeed in enjoying your life. So let us all come together to make City University our City of Dreams, what do you say?
