Yoga originated in India. Yoga trains us physically by improving our respiration, energy and vitality. Deep breathing exercises help us relax and facilitate mood change. In recent years, this exercise has become more and more popular in Hong Kong for different reasons, such as weight reduction and the enhancement of self-awareness.

Since October 2008, I have been a member of the Yoga class organised by Chan Sui Kau Hall. This was the third time that CSK Hall was organising the Yoga class, and we had about 25 students. In each lesson, we first had some breathing exercises, followed by different postures, for example, the Sun Salutation and others. We had 8 lessons this semester for only $185 dollars, which is almost a quarter the fee compared to other fitness centres in Hong Kong.

In the Yoga class, I have met friends from different floors, including exchange students from other countries. With the Indian instructor, this international class is really enjoyable. We have played games together, done difficult postures together, and laughed together. As a final year student, projects, assignments, and the pressure of job seeking have become part of my life. I have become more relaxed in the lessons as they have given me a chance to refresh my mind. They have also provided a very relaxing environment to relieve me from stress.

The Yoga class is open again in semester B and I would very much love to join it again and know more about Yoga.

HALL FUN!
