  How many bedspaces are available in the Student Residence?
   
About 2,300 bedspaces will be available for undergraduate students.
  Who are eligible to apply for a hall place?
   
All full-time UGC-funded bachelor degree students are eligible to apply.
  Are there any selection criteria to be used for allocation?
   
Yes. The Student Residence Committee has approved a set of criteria for allocation of bedspaces. The selection criteria are as follows:
   
1.
Mix of gender: proportional to the gender mix of student population.
2. Mix of cohort: Foundation Year (10%): Year 1 (30%): Year 2 (30%): Year 3 (30%)
3. All Non-local/ Incoming Exchange/ Foundation Year Students
Bed spaces will first be reserved for all non-local/ incoming exchange/ Foundation Year students.
4. Local Full-time UGC-funded Bachelor Degree Students
 
4.1
Bed spaces will be allocated to students with special needs. (Special needs are defined to be: daily commuting time longer than 4 hours; disability that impairs movement or significantly impaired learning; and very undesirable home environment, such as squatters and temporary housing.)
4.2 10% of the bed spaces will be reserved for students (including returning residents) recommended under the Residence Masters' discretion.
4.3 The remaining bed spaces will be allocated to applicants:

70% of the bed spaces will be based on the ranking of the combined scores of "Home Environment and Commuting Time" (Score A).
- 30% of the bed spaces will be based on the ranking of the combined scores of "Leadership Quality and Contribution to Residence Life" (Score B).
4.4 Lot drawing will be used for applicants who have the same scores above the threshold.
4.5 For students who have extenuating circumstances (for example, serious family problems) and cannot get in via the above routes, their cases can be referred to the Sub-committee on Admission and Allocation for consideration.

  If my application is successful, am I going to stay in Student Residence for a year?
   
Yes
  If my application is successful, what is the exact period of my stay in Student Residence?
   
One week before the Semester starts till week after the examination ends.
  When and how students can apply for a hall place?
   
WEB application via AIMS.
  How much are the hall charges for students?
   
The charges are on a semester basis:
- Double occupancy --- HK$ 4,840
- Single occupancy --- HK$ 7,260
  Apart from the hall charges, are there any charges that residents have to pay?
    Residents are responsible to pay for the air-conditioning of their bedstudy rooms and laundry charges.
  Are there any cooking facilities?
    Inside the common rooms on each typical floor, microwave ovens and hotplates will be provided for simple cooking and reheating purpose.
  Is there a canteen at Student Residence?
    Homey Kitchen, next to Multi-function Hall B, serves you healthy meal and daily necessities.
