There are 416 bedspaces in Hall 8 (Cornwall Street) and all rooms in Hall 8 are single rooms (approximately 8m2 each single room). Four single rooms form a self-contained flat with shared pantry, washroom and bathroom facilities. Hall 8 is a hall of co-ed floors. Both female and male residents will live on the same floor but in separate flats. The four single rooms of every flat will be assigned to 4 residents of the same gender. |

The hall places in Hall 8 will be first assigned to successful applicants. When all places in Hall 8 are taken, the single rooms in Jockey Club House (JCH) will be assigned. JCH offers single rooms (approximately 10m2 each single room) and a very limited number of double rooms. All rooms provide stylish and comfortable accommodation, equipped with bed, writing desk, bookshelf, private telephone line and communal facilities (e.g. pantry facilities toilet & shower facilities) on the floor. |

When all places in Jockey Club House (JCH) are occupied, student apartments in Jockey Club Harmony Hall (7-9/F) will be assigned. The student apartments are suites and studios that can accommodate more than 40 residents. All rooms are self-contained with a kitchenette, washroom and bathroom facilities.

Room Assignment |

| 2.1 |
Successful applicants will be invited to indicate their preferences of hall, room type and roommates/flatmates of the same gender with mutual agreement. |

| 2.2 |
Hall 8 is a hall of co-ed floors. Flats will be assigned to residents of the same gender. |
|
|
| 2.3 |
Rooms will be randomly assigned. Residents are not allowed to change rooms unless request is made and duly approved by the Residence Master and Student Residence Office. |
|
|
| 2.4 |
Applicants' indications of preferred roommates/flatmates will be considered as far as possible. However, there is no guarantee that you will be assigned to a particular unit, room type, or with specific flatmates. Final room assignments will be subject to room availability and hall admission policies. Student Residence Office or the Residence Master reserves the right to make alternative assignment decisions or re-assign students as appropriate. |

No room assignment will be made if applicants fail to complete application procedures properly or to confirm their offers. |
|
|
| 2.6 |
Rooms are assigned on the principle of ensuring maximum design capacity. Unoccupied rooms will be reserved for emergency cases, incoming exchange students or other eligible students who may arrive late. |

Policies about Room Change/Swapping |

Principles |

| 3.1.1 |
Room assignment is for one housing year. In our residence community, residents are strongly encouraged to resolve their differences or conflicts with their roommates, flatmates or floormates by mutual respect, tolerance and communication. Therefore, residents are not allowed to change rooms during the housing year except by special request and with the approval of the Residence Masters. |

Residents should check if their Halls or other halls have a specific set of policies on room change/swapping before application. |

Residents and their respective roommate/flatmates should sign as a mutual agreement on the applicatiosn forms. |

Residents should first contact their respective Residence Tutors for consultation and then secure the written recommendations of their Residence Tutors on the application forms. |

Residents should submit the application forms to Residence Masters for approval. |
| 3.2.1.4 |
Residence Masters will then send the signed application forms to the Student Residence Office (SRO) for follow-up actions.

Upon the receipt of the completed application forms, SRO will entertain the requests, subject to room availability. |

within 3 working days. |

Residents will be informed to collect keycard of the new room and to complete the room change within 3 working days. |

If residents fail to complete the check-out procedures within 3 working days, the penalty of late check-out ($100/day/person) will be levied. |
