Check-out for Residents of Student Residence at Cornwall St. (UG & TPG)

Check-out Time: before 12:00 noon at your hall lobby or at 24 Hour Security Office beyond office hours
Check-out for Residents of Jockey Club House & Hall 8 (RPG)
Check-out Date: 16 Aug 2011 (Monday)
Check-out Time: before 12:00 noon at 24 Hour Security Office
Residents of Jockey Club House (JCH) should check-out at the security counter of JCH (24 hours).

Penalty Charges

In line with university policy, penalty charges will be levied for late check-out/ improper check-out.

With effective from August 2008, the penalty charges is amended as follows:

1) Late Check-out:
If you fail to complete check-out procedures by the deadline, penalty charges ($100 per person per day) will be levied.

Late Check-out resulting in packing all luggage and personal belongings:
For the cases in which the resident fails to check out by the deadline, which has affected the move-in of the new resident into the assigned bedspace and required SRO to vacate the bedspace by clearing, packing and moving the residents' belongings, penalty charges at $600 per person on top of the late check-out penalty charges ($100 per person per day) will be levied.

3) Improper Check-out penalty charges:
Please do not leave any stuff inside your room. You can collect large plastic bags at the security counter of your Hall. A minimum of $200 per room will be levied if you fail to properly clean up your room and restore the furnishings upon check-out.


Procedures & Reminders

1. Please allow at least 20 minutes to complete your check-out procedures with us and observe your check-out deadline. You are strongly advised to check out early before the noon time of the last date of your stay approved by SRO.
2. Clear up all your belongings inside your room and make sure that your room/bedspace is completely clean and clear. Please do not leave any stuff behind your room. You can collect plastic rubbish bags at the security counter at your hall if you need them.
3. Restore the furniture setting of your room/bedspace to the original setting.
4. Close all the windows and lock the door leading to the washroom to prevent any damage to or loss of room inventory.
5. Bring along your student ID Card and report to us.
6. Our Residence Life Assistants (RLA) or security staff will go to your room and check your room inventory items together with you. You are required to sign out on your Inventory Checklist.
7. Return your Resident Card to security staff or our RLA.

General Guidelines

1. Residents are advised to familiarize themselves with the Regulations Governing Student Residence.
2. All residents should vacate their rooms, complete the check-out procedures and return the Resident Cards within the specified period. Residents wishing to check out before the specified period are required to inform SRO to facilitate follow-up arrangements.
3. NO REFUND will be made for the outstanding balance in the Resident Cards or air-conditioning cards as stated in the Handbook for Residents distributed at check-in.
4. In case of loss of or damage to the inventory items, residents will be held responsible for the total costs incurred for repair or replacement. If no particular resident can be identified for the loss or damage in the student room, the residents therein might be held equally or jointly liable for the charges.
5. The computer network connection in your room will be disconnected automatically upon completion of all check-out procedures.
6. Security Guard may check the students' property upon removal when necessary.
