Purpose of the Scholarship

To reward outstanding students of secondary schools who are nominated by their school principal and admitted to the School of Law’s Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Programme through the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS).

Number and Value of Award

Each school shall submit one nomination. The value of each award is HK$50,000.

Eligibility

Students who are nominated by their school principal and have selected the LLB Programme offered by the City University School of Law in the Band A choice of the JUPAS application.

Criteria for Award

The Scholarship shall be awarded primarily on the basis of academic merit (e.g., HKALE/ Use of English/ HKDSE* results). Non-academic and extra-curricular achievements may also be taken into account at the discretion of the Selection Committee.

Application Procedure and Deadline

Complete a nomination form obtainable from the School of Law website (http://www.cityu.edu.hk/slw/eng/pros_students/scholarships.html) and write an application statement for the LLB Programme (in not more than 500 words).
Submit the application form and statement together with relevant documents to your school principal for nomination.
The school principal is invited to write a recommendation letter for the applicant and pass the application form and relevant documents to the School of Law latest by 23 July 2010.
Applicants will be invited to attend a selection interview.

Additional Bonus

In addition to the LLB Admission Scholarship, students will also be awarded the CityU A+++ Entrance Scholarship if they:

have achieved at least grade C in both AS-level Use of English and AS-level Chinese Language and Culture; and
have attained an admission score of 16 or above in two A-level subjects (e.g. 2B in AL) or 1 A-level plus 2 AS-level subjects.
