Professor Wang Jiangyu, RCCL Director, commented on a statement of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office (HMO) of the State Council on the political situation in Hong Kong. In the statement, the HMO condemned the protest violence in Hong Kong as a “political virus” and enemy of the “One Country, Two Systems”. Wang shared his view that this was a message to distinguish between violent and peaceful protests, as well as, a call for the various political forces in Hong Kong to take side in the case when the central government starts to crack down the “black violence”.
