Professor Liu Qiao Talked about Legal Responses to Impact of COVID-19 at Baker McKenzie FenXun Panel Discussion in February 2020

15.03.2020

Professor LIU Qiao, Core Member of the Centre for Chinese and Comparative Law, was invited to speak in a panel discussion on “Tackling Force Majeure and Material Adverse Change in Hong Kong and Mainland China” organised by Hong Kong law firm Baker McKenzie FenXun. The panel was one of the first events to discuss legal responses to the impact of the globally widespread coronavirus (COVID-19) emergency on commercial transactions and comprised experts on contract and commercial law from Hong Kong, other common law jurisdictions, as well as mainland China. As the only academic who participated in the discussion, Professor Liu explained the key differences between the Chinese law and the law in Hong Kong around this potentially million-dollar issue for a wide range of businesses. The audio recording of the panel discussion can be accessed from the webinar link here, and the presentation materials here.
