Prof. Kwok Leung TSUI has been awarded a RGC Theme-based Research Scheme (TRS) project for two consecutive years. The new TRS project receives $40.845M including indirect/On Cost from the RGC. The project aims to develop a platform of tools that will improve safety and dependability for use by MTR and High Speed Rail operators. Professor Matthew Coop (ACE) and Dr Terrance Lau (BMS) are Co-PIs of two TRS projects awarded to HKUST and HKU in the fifth round exercise.
The TRS has been set up by the HKSAR Government to finance research projects on specific themes and it aims to focus academic research efforts of the UGC-funded institutions on themes of strategic importance to the long-term development of Hong Kong. Indicative funding ceiling for any single TRS project is $75M for up to five years’ duration.
Dr. Richard C M Yam won the 2014 Second Class Award at the Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards from the Ministry of Education (「高等學校科學研究優秀成果獎」自然科學獎二等獎).
