Visit to Hong Kong International Airport on 19 March 2015

Students taking the undergraduate course, SEE4001 Engineers in Society, offered by the School participated in the visit to the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) on 19 March 2015 (Thursday).

Hong Kong International Airport is the only airport in Hong Kong, and also the home to one of the world's largest passenger terminal buildings (the largest when opened in 1998).  During the visit, the guides introduced to the students that HKIA is the greenest among all the hub-sized airports, but the competition is tight and intense.  Pursuit of the greenest airport pledge requires the Airport Authority to develop a new strategy including the engagement and collaboration with different stakeholders to accelerate footprint reduction and multiply the benefit, and also the demonstration of business case to sustain and expand footprint reduction programmes.
