MIM Undergraduate Admission Scholarship

Regulations

 

With their Non-UGC Reserves, the Department of Information Systems and the Department of Marketing have decided to establish an admission scholarship for their new intakes for the 2011/2012 academic year under the following regulations:

 

1.     The Scholarship shall be known as “MIM Undergraduate Admission Scholarship” (MIM 優秀入學成績獎學金).

 

2.       Eligible applicants for the scholarship should be the full-time undergraduate First Year students who have been admitted to the Marketing Information Management (MIM) programme through the JUPAS route and who have achieved good UGC score at 14[1] minimum.

 

3.       ONE MIM Undergraduate Admission Scholarship valued at HK$20,000 will be awarded in an academic year.  The award will be equally distributed to the recipients if there is more than one eligible awardee with the same UGC score. 

 

4.       A selection panel will be set up by the Department of Information Systems and the Department of Marketing. A short-list of candidates will be invited to attend an interview from which the selection panel will choose the scholarship winner.

 

5.       The scholarship will be disbursed to the duly registered recipient by three installments, i.e. the first installment of HK$5,000 after the full payment of tuition fee for semester A by October of the first year; the second installment of HK$6,000 is payable after the completion of Year 1 and full payment of tuition fee for semester A by October; and the third installment of HK$9,000 is payable after the completion of Year 2 and full payment of tuition fee for semester A by October. 

 

6.      The scholarship recipient is subjected to good academic performance by achieving a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 3.00 at the end of Year 1 and Year 2 for awarding the second and the third installments.

7.      The scholarship recipient is required to register in the full-time Marketing Information Management (MIM) undergraduate programme throughout his/her undergraduate studies at CityU.   Otherwise, the awarded scholarship will be withdrawn immediately. If the recipients decide to take leave of absence in particular semester(s), the scholarship will be temporary suspended.

 

8.     The scholarship recipient will commit to participate in the professional development activities and other related achievements as assigned by the Department of Information Systems and the Department of Marketing. If the recipient fails to do so, his/her scholarship may be withdrawn.

 

9.       The Nomination by the Department of Information Systems will reach the Student Development Services in September/October of the academic year for which the scholarship is designated.

 

10.     The scholarship will be offered annually until any notice of change is to be received from the Department of Information Systems and the Department of Marketing.

 

 

Remark:

With an objective to nurture our students and to promote caring culture, the Community Relations Committee of the University Council has recommended that each award recipient is expected to make an annual donation of at least HK$200 to City University of Hong Kong for student support via CityU Alumni Club when they are in employment after graduation.  This term has been incorporated into all scholarship/prize/award/bursary schemes, whether they are donated by external donors or contributed by University funding, with effect from February 2008.
