Student Development Services, is responsible
for the management of a wide range of sports and recreational facilities
on campus. It also conducts physical education courses for students,
organizes extension courses for staff and their dependents, as well
as provides coaching service to the City University sports teams.
Besides, advice and assistance are given to student in organizing
various sports activities.

Sports Complex

Joint Sports Centre, Renfrew Road

Sports Facilities
Excellent indoor and outdoor facilities are available from
the Sports Complex on-campus for the organization of regular
physical education courses, sports team practices, intramural
and intercollegiate competitions, and recreational activities
for both staff and students. The off-campus Joint Sports Centre
at Renfrew Road also provides a variety of quality outdoor
sports facilities. It is jointly owned by CityU, HKBU and
PolyU.

PE Course
PE Courses, aiming to introduce students to new sports activities
and foster life-long pursuit in sports. Students are encouraged
to participate on voluntary basis during their free periods.

Regular Physical Education Course
PE Courses are organised to enable students acquire sports
skills. Courses offered include badminton, table-tennis,
tennis, squash, basketball, volleyball, handball, swimming,
canoeing, snorkel diving, physical fitness, social dance,
fencing, trampolining, etc.

Extension Course
Physical Fitness Room User Training Workshop
The Physical Education Section of Student Development Services offers
a series of Physical Fitness Training Workshops for full time staff,
their immediate family members, and Part-time students.

Sport Climbing Training Elementary/Level 1 Course
The course content
includes basic climbing techniques and the use of handholds, stance
and balance. Different types of belaying techniques will also be
introduced. Participants will learn to use different kinds of climbing
equipment including the sit-harness, climbing rope, belaying devices
and karabiners.

Sports Teams
CityU is ”§One of the Best Universities in Sports”¦ among 11 member
tertiary institutions in Hong Kong. We are the only University
that has captured Double Champions for 6 times in both Men”¦s and Women”¦s
Overall Championship in the USFHK Sports Competition in
the year 1996-97, 2000-01, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11. We
now have totally 360 athletes in 15 sports events.

Professional Staff
Professional staff of the Section are willing to give technical
advice to students in organizing sports competitions and other
sports-related activities. Assistance will also be given to
students in securing the necessary sports facilities and equipment
for their planned activities.
