The School of Creative Media (SCM) and the University have entered into student exchange agreements with various Mainland/overseas institutions to provide students with ample opportunities for academic as well as cultural exchanges. The valuable exposure and experience these can provide will definitely help widen your horizons and build an international network of friends and colleagues.

Who Can Apply
All full-time regular undergraduate students of SCM who meet the admission requirements of the partner institution and with a CGPA >= 2.50 are eligible to apply. Applicants must have completed at least one year of study in your bachelor's degree programme before the start of the exchange programme. Notwithstanding the above, please note the following:
- It is not recommended that final year students undertake exchange studies during their final semester of study with the School.
Application Procedures and Deadlines
Step 1
Please identify an appropriate institution which suits your study plan and interests:
Step 2
Please discuss your study plan and credit transfer arrangements with your Stream and/or Programme/Major Leader before completing the following two forms: (Courses syllabus should be submitted for your Stream and/or Programme/Major Leader¡¦s reference)
- Student Exchange Application Form (online application at the Academic Information Management System (AIMS) under CityU student e-Portal during the scheduled application period)
- Student Exchange Programme: Outgoing Student's Proposed Course Plan (You are only required to submit a Proposed Course Plan with approval of your Stream and/or Programme/Major Leader if your application is successful)
Remarks:
If you have to select non-SCM courses which fall into your programme curriculum to fulfill the programme requirements, you are required to seek approval from the course offering department on respective courses.
Step 3
Mainland and External Affairs Office (MEAO) will pass your online application forms to the SCM General Office by February (for September entry) / September (for January entry). To support your application, please also submit the following documents: Ć
- An academic transcript
- Proof of language proficiency (if applicable), such as TOEFL or IELTS result, or any other proof of language proficiency acceptable to CityU and/or the partner institutions
Please note the following:
- Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
- For institutional level student exchange programme, please check the information of MEAO¡¦s website for the list of partner institutions that you are eligible to apply for.
- Students who wish to participate in exchange programmes using English as the medium of instruction and assessment should submit TOEFL/IELTS result or other recognised English language proficiency tests.
- Students may be required to attend an interview.
- Students will be notified of the application results through e-mail by the Mainland and External Affairs Office by the following dates:
- Main Round (September entry) ¡V March
- Clearing Round (January entry) ¡V October
- If your application for the Student Exchange Programme is successful, you are required to submit a Proposed Course Plan with approval of your Stream and/or Programme/Major Leader. Approval for non-SCM courses from course offering department is also required if applicable.
- Selection criteria include:
- Satisfactory academic performance
- Evidence of benefits to students' study in SCM (e.g. relevance to their final-year/graduation project, their affiliated studio or their career goal)
- Willingness to explore a new culture, meet new people and enthusiasm to be an ambassador of CityU and the School in the future
- Language proficiency (Putonghua and / or English, as appropriate)
- Proposal of a worthwhile project to be undertaken during the exchange period (may form part of the coursework/project requirement of the partner institution)
- The partner institutions, however, reserve the final decision on the admission of exchange students.

- Pong Ding Yuen Memorial Fund for Bilateral Exchange with the Mainland (only for students who apply for exchanging to universities in Mainland)
- Spring-Time Outreach Scholarship
Successful applicants for the exchange programme with financial difficulty are eligible to apply for the captioned Scholarship. Please prepare an application letter, budget estimate and supporting documents and submit the documents to SCM General Office before the deadline.

Notes to Successful Students
- Students should arrange for travel documents, visas, transportation and medical insurance as appropriate. They shall pay the tuition fee to CityU and be responsible for the following costs:
- International and local transportation costs
- Accommodation
- Medical and travel insurance
- Personal expenses
- Books and related materials for courses
- Under normal circumstance, students are not allowed to register any courses during the exchange period.
- If there is any subsequent change to your course plan (e.g. after your arrival at the partner institution), please submit a revised course plan to the Stream Leader and seek his/her approval. For non-SCM courses, please seek approval for the changes from the course leader and/or course offering department. The revised course plan with approval of Stream Leader and/or Programme/Major Leader should be sent to Ms Ruby Lau at ruby.l@cityu.edu.hk for record. Failure to do so may affect the credit transfer arrangement of your exchange study afterwards.
- Please note that students may miss classes for required courses, or those that are pre-requisites for other courses, offered during the exchange period which may preclude them from graduating with their class on schedule.
- Students should complete all the academic and assessment requirements (e.g. coursework, examination and/or projects) of their selected courses at the partner institution, even if the partner institution has a longer semester than that of CityU.
- Please request an official transcript from the partner institution after completion of your exchange study. The transcript will serve as the proof for credit transfer.
- Please submit an application form for credit transfer together with transcript issued by the partner institution and syllabus of proposed transfer course(s) to the SCM General Office within one month after your return to CityU.
- Upon completion of the exchange programme, students should take an initiative role to register the relevant outstanding courses via AIMS according to their study plan during the University Add/Drop period.
