Inbound Exchange Programmes

(for incoming students from institutions which have entered into a student exchange agreement with the School of Creative Media or City University of Hong Kong)

Established in 1998, the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong is the first of its kind in Asia and the birthplace of a new generation of creative media professionals. The quality of our teaching programmes and the international reputation of our faculty members highlight our global perspective, while substantial connections to the creative industries in Hong Kong and the region underpin our efforts to contribute to this fast-changing sector.

The School of Creative Media welcomes student exchanges and is offering a wide range of courses for students undertaking exchange studies at the University. Please refer to the following sections for application and related details:

     Application Procedures and Deadlines

City University of Hong Kong has entered into student exchange agreements with various Mainland/overseas institutions. If you are a student from one of these institutions and are supported by your home institution in undertaking exchange study at City University of Hong Kong, please follow the steps below in submitting an application.

Step 1

Please check if the student exchange agreement signed between us and your home institution is at the institutional level or School level:

  1. List of partner institutions at the institutional level

    If the agreement is signed at the institutional level, please follow the application procedures given in the above Website.

    Please note that institutional level exchanges are coordinated by the University¡¦s Admissions Office, not by the School of Creative Media.

  2. List of partner institutions at the School level

    If you are from one of the following institutions, please go to Steps 2 and 3 below:

    • Beijing Normal University (College of Art and Communication), Beijing, China
    • Peking University (School of Arts), Beijing, China
    • Shih Hsin University (College of Journalism and Communications), Taiwan
    • Tongji University (College of Communication and Art), Shanghai, China
    • University of Illinois at Chicago (College of Architecture and the Arts), USA

Step 2

Please consult the academic advisor/departmental coordinator of your academic unit on the suitability of your proposed exchange study and related application procedures.

Step 3

To apply for exchange study with the School of Creative Media under the School level exchange programme, please submit the following forms and documents, as appropriate:

  1. Application for Admission as an Exchange Student

  2. Course Selection Form (Please refer to: List of Course to be offered to Incoming Exchange Students)

  3. (Those who do not have the right of abode or right to land in Hong Kong are required to submit the following forms for visa/entry permit application.)

    Declaration by Financial Sponsor
    Guidebook for Entry for Study in Hong Kong (For reference)

  4. Request for Visa Sponsorship and Student Undertaking Form [Download at MEAO's Website]

  5. (Those who wish to apply for residential accommodation are required to submit the following Student Residence form.)

  6. A photocopy of your Passport/Identity Card (bearing your name, photo, Passport/Identity Card number, date of issue and date of expiry)

  7. Transcript issued by your home institution

  8. A copy of your CV

  9. An Application Letter to the School of Creative Media stating the reasons for applying for exchange study with the School

  10. A Letter to the Immigration Department of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region stating your proposed period of stay in Hong Kong and the return date to your home country

  11. Financial proof (e.g. your personal or parents' bank statement)

Deadlines for Application Submission

  • 15 May for Semester A enrolment (September Entry)
  • 30 Oct for Semester B enrolment (January Entry)
