Background:
Koala received her MFA in Integrated Media from California Institute of the Arts supported by the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund Fellowship and graduated with a BFA (honor) at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
Koala works towards the concept of the "media poetry" pursuing clarity and integrity in artistic expression. She is a choreographer works with various digital media techniques especially innovative visuals. She also writes reviews on multimedia performance and new media.
Her works have been presented in Subtle Technologies Conference 2005 (U. of Toronto), IDAT (Arizona State U.), Performance Studies International Conference (Arizona State U.), UCLA Hammer Museum, Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibition, Philadelphia Fringe Festival, and other performance venues. Her performances bring her to France, Germany, Canada, China, and across USA.
Koala was the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, including Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund Fellowship, Asian Cultural Council Fellowship, Jacky Chan Foundation Scholarship, American Dance Festival Video Documentation, California Arts Council, APA Director's Prize, and had won the Best Performance Award from the Bauhinia Cup Hong Kong Dance Championship. She also received Certificate of Commendation from Mayor of City of Los Angeles.
