Professional Background:

Tamas Waliczky was born in 1959, Budapest. Hungarian. Computer animator, media artist. Professor and Animation Stream Leader at School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong.

He started out by creating cartoon films very early, when he was 9 years old. Later he worked as painter, illustrator and photographer, until he began working with computers in 1983. Since then he works with digital technology only.

His works won numerous international awards, including the Golden Nica of Prix Ars Electronica Linz, was shown in several festivals and exhibitions worldwide, including the Ars Electronica, Imagina and Siggraph festivals, the Lyon Biennale, the ICC Gallery Tokyo, the Multimediale Karlsruhe, the Photo'98 England, the Seville Biennale, and are in the permanent collection of different museums, like the Pompidou Center Paris, the Oppenheimer Collection Bonn, the Australian Centre for the Moving Image Melbourne and the Ludwig Museum Budapest. Before joining the team of the School of Creative Media he was member of the research staff of ZKM Karlsruhe (1992-1997) and he was artist-in-residence at IAMAS in Gifu (1999-2000). He taught at the Academy of Fine Arts Budapest, the University of Mainz and the University of Visual Arts Saarbrücken.
