Ms. HANNIGOVÁ, Marie
Academic Qualifications:
MFA in graphic design from Colorado State University
BFA in graphic design from Colorado State University
BA in advertising from Michigan State University |
Background:
Marie was born and grew up in Prague, Czech Republic. She spent eleven years in the United States, first studying advertising at Michigan State University, graphic design at Colorado State University, and then since 2005, teaching communication design at Metropolitan State College of Denver in Colorado.
Marie is an artist, she is a designer but she is a communicator foremost. In the age of internet connectivity and mass media, she is interested in involving her audience, getting people out of the passive mode of receiving information and not processing it. Her art works, often abstract in nature, are meant to be interacted with and explored by the viewer.
Her interest goes beyond the design field and reaches into both computer imaging and fine arts disciplines. She strives to bring the irregularity and expressiveness of human touch back into computer design. She also translates these qualities into printmaking, drawing, fibers and mixed media installations.
Marie has shown her work in both group and solo exhibitions in United States and Czech Republic. She organized and curated an exhibition of eleven women artists living in the USA in the prestigious Gallery of Vaclav Spala in Prague in June 2005. She was also closely involved in the preparation and organization of the Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition at Colorado State University. |
