Martin Painter has been at CityU since 2001. Previously he worked at the University of Sydney, where from 1996-2000 he was Head of the Department of Government and Public Administration. He studied for his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the University of Sussex and the Australian National University. He has held visiting positions at University of Oxford, the Australian National University and Queen's University, Canada. He has been awarded several consultancies on public administration reform in Vietnam and was engaged as the lead resource person in preparing the United Nations World Public Sector Report 2005.
