| Mark Hayllar gained his BSc in Social Anthropology and MSc in Social Policy and Planning at the London School of Economics and completed his PhD at Brunel University. Having trained as a Hospital Administrator, he subsequently served as the Administrator and Chief Officer of the London Emergency Bed Service. Prior to joining City University in July 1984, Mark worked at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine as the Programme Coordinator for the Joint Master's Degree in Health and Hospital Administration with King Saud University, Saudi Arabia. Mark's current research interests include governance reforms in Asia and private sector involvement in the delivery of public services. He is also the Programme Leader for the MA in Public Policy and Management. Mark's consultancy work has included senior management training for governments in China, Nepal, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and the UK. He is an elected member of the Executive Council of the Eastern Regional Organization for Public Administration and in 2003 was awarded the EROPA Plaque of recognition for his contribution to public administration in the region. |
